We purchased a Yamaha 9.9 hp w/electric start.  The motor had a long cable to go to the battery.  The problem, of course, was what to do with the cable.  If you drill a hole in the transom and run the cable all the way to the battery, then you cannot take off the motor without a lot of trouble of removing the cable.  We purchased a trolling motor plug and receptacle from Boat U.S.. It is heavy duty and easy to install.  Now we can unplug the wire and take the motor off.
